Hey all,

I've had the wonderful task of trying to create a standard out of a Panasonic dbs 616 Phone System. This system is 12 years old and the color codes are just a mess.

My problem lies with the seperate voice mail system they bought. It's a Sony Digital voicemail with 4 mail boxes. Basiclly it's a fancy answering machine. The client has 3 lines comming into the building and i'm having a problem locating where the voice mail line should be conected in the system or at the block to take messages from all 3 lines. Currently I have the line to the VM directly to the Line comming into the building, which will only answer on the main line.

Anyone know where I need to connect this pair to make the vmail answer on all 3 lines?

Thanks ALL ye phone gods for your support

Gene

If you have a free port on the system I think that the 616 will allow you to hook up an analog station (voice mail) to the (blue/white or Red/green) and set it to answer on 4th ring etc. JerryReeve

These type of systems need an analogue extension run out to plug the voicemail systems into. An engineer should charge £60.00 per extension max. Call me for further info

The 616 uses hybrid (the phones use both analog and digital) ports. the ports on the 616 are modular (rj-11) jacks. the inner pair (blue/white or red/green) are for the analog portion of the phone. the second pair (orange/white or Black/yellow) are for the digital signal that the Panasonic phones use for button lamps and busy lamps etc. You can check this out by plugging in a plain old telephone into one of the ports of the 616 and check for dial tone. If you can get dial tone and ring like you want you can then plug in your vm unit.
The panasonic 616 has no VM interface so all you can do is to have the vm unit work as an auto attendent to the mailboxes. JerryReeve

So i could't hookup the 3 incomeing lines to the VM on this system. Just the one main line correct? Unless I had an VM expansion module on the system? Am i correct.

Thanks for all the help

From what I could get from your earlier posts this should work. Just treat the VM as if it was a telephone extension of the system. assign the 616 to cause the port that will be used for the vm to ring on all incoming lines. then set the VM to answer calls coming into it on the ?4th? ring. You can test this first by just hooking up a plain phone to it and trying to rx calls. JerryReeve
