Hi All,
Is there a facility to perform a pcap trace within the Panasonic NS700?

Thanks in advance
Mark

You can do a sip trunk or gateway trace from the system utility and download the PRTSIP file. You will need the ns offline tool to convert tp pcap

Hi OBT,
Thanks for your response. So to be clear I have to actually start the trace in Utilities? It’s not always running?

Mark

Thanks OBT,
I have got the traces out and used the off line tool to convert so I can view in Wireshark.
The trace is always running and it updates over time. I presume it will only capture the most recent back to a certain point in history?
regards
Mark

Yes, depending on how much traffic on the card, it normally around an hour. It also only collects data but not the voice stream. You need a mirror port switch to collect everything

Ah ok,
So do you mean it only shows the signalling traffic, in my case from port 5060. How do I set up a switch with a mirror port? I have an issue with inbound calls failing, they don’t even ring. SIP provider is saying they are getting no response to invites of these failed calls and firewall/ISP people are saying that they are passing everything but I don’t think they are hitting the Pana.
Thanks OBT

Mark

You should see that on the traces
Is your sip provider registration or peer setup. If port 5060 is not open to the system then it could block incoming calls. Make sure the firewall is only letting traffic from sip provider server address to 5060.

Thanks OBT,
I'm not sure whether the SIP provider is registration or peer set up. SIP provider is Gamma in the uk. I think the Lan is blocking in bound invite on 5060, but it is intermittent.

I have heard of them we don’t have them here in Ireland

It the setting has a user name and password and set to register in settings, it could be the port opens during registration the calls come in and it closes due to no outgoing traffic to the sip server, sometimes lowering the registration timer keeps the firewall open longer

Do you have a sip trace?

Hi,
I have some traces from the Pana and the local SBC that is on site between the Pana and the client’s network. Looking through the traces I don’t think the failed incoming SIP invites are even hitting my kit. The traces only show completed calls or calls where the caller has hung up.
So when you’re referring to the registration timer are you talking about the one on the virtual SIP card? Or on the firewall? You’re also saying reduce the Reg timer to keep the port 5060 open longer? That seems counterintuitive if you don’t mind me saying but i’ll take your word for it.

Mark

It is on the system card, it will only keep it open to the registration server ip as it is looking for a response from that. It wouldn’t let anything else in on that session

Hi OBT,
Thank you very much for your guidance.

Mark
