Hello. I purchased the NCP 1000 unit from a very nice and reputable dealer.

Went to go install it, using the PBX UMC, and entered in the set IP address me and the dealer agreed to. PBX UMC could not find the unit and came back wit the error I checked all settings again, no luck.

I confirmed that the NCP and the Computer were on the same network. No luck.

I ensured all firewalls were off on the Computer. No luck.

I rebooted the Verizon FiOs router (Verizon Actiontec. No luck.

I rebooted the Netgear Switch. No luck.

I then took everything between the NCP and the Computer away. I had the NCP going directly to the Actiontec and the Computer directly to the Actiontec. No luck.

At this point I have restored the network configuration. Namely,

Actiontec-->NetGear 748 TPS Switch--> NCP
Actiontec-->NetGear 748 TPS Switch--> Computer

I just tried the search one more time (192.168.1.61). No luck. I also then tried putting in the port as 35300. No luck I tried pinging the IP address and TX/RX were lossless.

Since the NCP does not have a USB port I can not connect this way. Although I can easily cable the NCP directly to my Computer, I am not sure how to go from here.

Can anyone help me here??? I would hire someone to tunnel in but have never done that before so I am a little sheepish about it.

Marc

take out the sd card and open the dsys file and check what the ip address is. default is 192.168.0.101 so if you have not changed it you will have to set your pc address to that range and connect to the system

Hi. I did what you said, and also did an IP scan, Both of them came up with an IP address of 192.168.1.60. It very well may be that I need to set the IP range on my computer. I am not sure how to do this though, do you have a good article.? Thanks so much for the idea because I did not think of this initially.marc

if you/someone has not set the ip address on the ncp, it will be 192.168.0.101

plug your pc into the system directly and in Network and Sharing Center, change adaptor settings, double click local area connection,
double click internet protocol version 4(tcp/IPv4, then click on- use following address. enter ip as 192.168.0.2 and submask 255.255.255.0 dont need any other settings, click ok. now try to connect to ncp on 192.168.0.101

Thanks a ton for idea. I ran IP scanner and the unit appeared. I also pinged it through console and lossless transmission confirmed. Also, my field Computer IP is 192.168.1.24 and the NCP is 192.168.1.60.

Could it be that PBX UMC is defective?

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks,

Marc

Thanks for getting back to me.
I have not. I am probably not going to be comfortable doing this and, at this point, am going to look for a programmer that can tunnel in and help me here. I need to see the layout and MAP for the 1172, 1080 and 1170 to make progress on my install and a good programmer can probably get me there. Do you have a person or firm you have used? thanks Marc

I am a panasonic qualified and certified installer and programmer with over 20 years experience and we do all the installations in-house
I do agree that having a good installer will make life easier for you

Great--how do I get in tough with you? Since neither of us are promoting, recruiting or students--we are not running afoul of the site rules. Alternatively you can call me in my office. 917-613-3223

I am in Ireland so I am a bit far... You need someone to go on site to setup the system
