Panasonic KX-TD 612 Programming

Could you tell me if KX-TD 612 can be programmed with same version of Programmator, that is used for KX-TD 816?

Every setup can be done this way?

A while ago I asked my supplier about using the Programmator and he stated that the programming "fields" it accesses are not all the same as the Panasonic "fields" and Pamasonic has more. He told me that he had heard of people blowing out the power supply from using it to change some simple setting and actually changed the setting for the power supply from 115v to 220v getting lots of smoke from the unit.
Scared me from using it.
Has anyone else heard of this?
