when it start to print the first line of text, instead of printing the first line, the printer linefeeds a couple of lines first. Is the printer doing this on it's own and if so is there a way to shut it off?

another issue is that with the set up software for the printer the minimum page length that may be specified is 8". The paper I am using is 6.75" is length. I believe this is causing the printer for formfeed beyond the perpheration when hitting the tear button on the printer. Is there a way to specify to the printer that the page is 6.75"?

Look for a 'Custom' sizing option in the printer's software that allows you to specify the exact paper size.

I did not notice within the software that there was one. Do you know that one exists? Generally it just list a selection of paper sizes to choose from.

I use a HP printer, and in its software there is an option for "Custom 8.5 x 11'.
When its clicked on, I can specify a custom paper size.

we are using dos not windows. The setup software that comes with the printer does not allow custom settings.

The manual follows with the setup disk and shows nothing shorter than 8". Don't know if your programmer could create a custom driver for your program to deal with the shorter page length.

The manual also shows "skip perforation" and "TOF set".
Don't know if those would help with the line feeds at the top.
