Panasonic installation

I have a voice processing system model # Kx Tvs125 and a Digital Super Hybrid System model # 8EXT to try to install for a friend. I am a Nortel guy so I am not to familair with this system but I am willing to give it a shot. I guess I want to know some basic install steps, I am hooking up 4 lines and 10 phones. How many pairs does this sytem use and how difficult do you think it will be to accomplish. I would think this should only take a couple of hours but this will be new to me. Thanks, any advice will help.

I do a bit of Nortel meself, but mostly panasonic telephone systems.

How many pairs each extension will use depends on the type of phones you are connecting.

The Panasonic Analogue Proprietry Telephones (APTs) use two pairs (Pins 2&5, 3&4 on RJ11), while the Panasonic Digital Proprietry Telephones (DPTs) use one pair. (Pins 2&5 on RJ11)

it's pins 4 & 5 for analog here and 3 & 6 for digital on a rj 14 or both sets for hybrid phone

First of all, an 8EXT is the expansion box for a TD 816/1232. The cabinet part number is on the right side or hiding under the expansion card

Just like your Nortel, a digital phone uses one pair, just not the same pair as an analog phone, that's why you get two different answers. The Panasonic TD accepts three types of phones. The center pins 3&4 on a 6 pin jack, 4&5 on an 8-pin, are the T&R for a single line set or an Analog Proprietary set (APT). The second set of pins is for the Data on an APT or the Digital pair of a Digital set. The XDP of a digital phone uses the center pins for the second line.

The 8EXT has a 25-pair tail. It's wired like an old Panasonic KXT-123211 in that there are 3 pairs per extension. TRD1D2V1V2. Good luck finding APT's that use the extra pair, it's for Secure Off Hook Voice Announce. I think KXT-7130's and maybe a 123230 used them.

I'm gussing the box underneath is a TD-816. It uses RJ-14's for each extension (8 of them). A 1232 has two more amp tails, counting from the bottom up 1-8 and 9-16.

We have 6-pin and 8-pin plugs and jacks, along with 4-pin handset. The RJ-11/14/25 are all on 6-pin plugs and jacks and depends on whether you're using 2,4, or 6 pins. The 8-pins come in 3 flavors, T-568A, T568B, and USOC. All 3 use 8 wires, A in 54361278, B in 54123678 order and USOC in 54362718 order

I tend to forget that some of you are on the other side of the pond and use different connections.
