Panasonic 824

On an 824 system, one jack(03) gives the message "co not assigned" when I plug in a 7896 or a 7731 phone to this jack. I checked all the outgoing and incoming fields to make sure they are enabled for this jack. Any ideas?

I get the message when hitting either the F-Key 1 for line 1, or if I just hit 9, or hit 8,1

i.e 2.Extensions >> 4.Flexible buttons.

You have to have a line key for each line you have on one of the first 12 keys, programmed as co 01 etc.
program then button then 0 and co 1-8
