Palm Desktop data recovery

Techies,

I recently lost my Handspring and was trying to recover my data from my Palm Desktop and putting it to my Palm Vx. After syncing it, it didn't merge the data, instead it replaced all my Desktop data (datebook, address, memo, todo) with an almost blank data from the Vx.

How do I recover my Desktop data? I won't sync it again. Please help urgent!

This may sound like a dumb question, but I have no idea how much you know about this software. Are you sure you don't have two Palm users now, one with all of you data, and one without? There should be a users drop down list with one or more users somewhere in the upper right-hand corner of the desktop software.

I do know how to change the profile name. My objective was diff coz i needed to merge 2 db. 1 from the PC and 1 from the PDA.
