Hi,

I been asked to set up an exisiting pair of Procurve 2524'2 linked by a 100-FX-Sc J4853A pair of fibres

Here is what we want to do:-
Upstairs we have 5 subnets - .1 to .5
We want to plug these into one procurve and have the same subnets available on the other one downstairs.

Both procurves are currently plugged into the .1 subnet and I've given then a static IP so I can find them with a browser.

I'm new to these beasties - can anyone give me a clue as to how to get started or a pointer to any decent FAQ's?

Thanks in advance
David

did you try it ?
i don't think there is any trouble in doing that. ( i mean not with the switchs ) .

Bye.

No, but I am going to try tomorrow:)

Plan looks like:-
Procurve 1 - add 3 vlans.Tag ports 1-6 + 25 (fibre) to vlan 1, ports 7-12 + 25 to vlan 2 and so on.

Same on Procurve 2

Hopefully it will then give me 4 subnets on procurve 2 through the fibre.....or I've read the info wrong!

Well, plan sort of worked.

Tagged subnet 1 and lost connectivity to the rest of the network - other switches don't support tags.

So, ended up doing this:-
Subnet 1 - untag 1-6 and 25, forbid others
Subnet 2 - untag 7-12 and tag 25, forbid others
and so on.

Did the same on both procurves and seems to work OK
