I am using a software package called "Paintpal" to create dialog screens in version 4.5 of Paradox.

The version of "Paintpal" I am using works very well on a slow computer (a 486 running at 120Mhz or less) but does not work at all on a faster Pentium.

Does anyone have any experience on running "Paintpal" on a
fast machine?

Beaver,

(Note: This is a Paradox/DOS question. PaintPAL was never rewritten for Paradox for Windows)

I haven't used PaintPAL for some years now. If memory serves, 33Mhz was considered a fast machine at the time.

In any event, it's a DOS application, one that may not work with recent versions of Windows. You will, at the very least, need to run it in a full screen DOS (COMMAND or CMD)window; there may also be certain command-line switches that you'll need to add to configure its use of memory.

If you still have access to the old computer, you might see if it contains a customized .PIF file for PaintPAL (usually saved in the same directory as the one containing the PaintPAL executable file.

I do note that the publisher for PaintPAL offers a couple of possible explanations. See for details. You might be able to get a new .EXE e-mailed to you, though you'd have to pursue that through the contact information on that web page.

Also, I noticed that the Diamond Software Group has a possible patch available. Search for a utility called Patchcrt.

Hope this helps...
