Painter IX doesn't launch

I have installed Painter IX on my XP machine with 1 GB of RAM. After installation Painter started normally one single time. Next time I tried to start nothing happens.

The solution offered on Corel support page (making disc space free) is senseless: There are more than 100 gb free on my hard disc.

Starting Painter while holding down SHIFT key (= resetting all options) also has no result.

Any idea out there?
