What kind of agreements are standard in the telecom industry regarding travel. For nearly 10 years I have worked for myself and travel up to 4 hours (one way) for work. It makes sense to pay the driver from when he leaves the office until he returns, what about the second tech. he will mostly be sleeping on the way home. Still it doesn't seem fair to pay him less just because he is not driving.
What about overnight stays?
I have worked at some places that only pay until the completion of your last job. You travel home on your own time (we took our trucks home) but this was no more than 30 min. and most people fudged that.
