We have three buildings and want to be able to page each seperatly from phone system or do all page, There is a small amplifier with (2) 25 v speakers hooked to system now but not working. Thanks for you HELP

If paging through sets only, divide sets into zones per building. If you want to use external paging and don't have speaker wire run to each building, put an analog adapter in each area, attach a Bogen TAM-B to ATA, connect TAM-B to paging amp. To page then simply dial ext ATA is on.

I would install a Volcom 6 Zone paging system that hooks to a CO port on the system. That way each building can have its own zone and all page. This is external only!
Do as Arr said for internal(phone zone) paging.

Good Luck!!

The paging is for 3 large kennel buildings and needs to be external. Do I need to install all 70 speakers and a new amp. What will work best ? If a new amp, any suggestions?

thanks again

It depends on the size of the buildings and what you want.

I like Valcom because you run standard phone cable to the speaker/horn and each one has its own amplification built in. That way if a horn/speaker goes bad you only loose that location and just replace it.

If you are using a 70 volt system with amplifier and the amp goes out you have no paging.

Both are good solutions.

So what kind of Valcom speaker? Does it have to have a power supply at each speaker?

Phdude,
How are your buildings connected?

The main building with system has one 25 v spkr the other two buildings are feed by a twenty five pair underground cable with gas protectors which carry phone extention traffic. On the six zone valcom unit how do get to those different zones? I suspect you dial digits after you select that co port, is that correct?

thanks

Phdude,
I don't know the Valcom. But if it works similar to the Bogen ZPM then it is a DTMF programming procedure.

On the Valcom the speakers use two pair. One pair for power , the other is to hookup to page port on Valcom unit. The Valvom page adapter alows you to hook up speakers to one of the 6 page zones. You hook a CO port of KSU to the input on Valcom page adapter. You either dial code to acces the CO port or put it on a key on the phones, after you access the CO port you dial a code to page a zone or all page.

The Valcom unit can feed each building with one pair (the page zone) and then install a 24 volt power supply in each building to power the speaker. I always run my speaker cable back to the IDF/MDF, that way you can change zones that speakers are in.

Each speaker as I said is self amplified. They come in speakers or horns and also different watts (5,10,15,30).
If you go to any Best Buy store there paging system is A Valcom unit using horns.

The only thing you want to make sure of: is that the paging speaker/horn are not to close to any phone that will be paging. This wil cause feed back and that loud squel everyone hates, but this is for any paging system.

Good Luck!!
