System: ICP 3300 MXe ver 9.0
My customer asked me to configure the new IP DECT R3 (for north america)so he can page from his 5602 or 5606.
From the documentation I understand that this feature is not supported on IP DECT set’s. Need confirmation.
Is there a way to get the paging working on IP DECT set’s (5602, 5606)

I don't know much about why they cannot so I won't address this.

I know that I have run into limitations many times in the past where certain devices have access to features while others do not. This I will discuss.

I have not yet found a feature that has this sort of problem where the feature cannot be activated by an analog station. This leads to the question, how can I make the system think I am an analog station and not the device that has the issue? The answer is loopback an analog station to an analog trunk and use ARS to access the feature.

Requires: 1 spare Analog port, 1 spare LS Trunk port, ARS programming know-how.

e.g.
Paging access code = #70
Analog Station = 9*99
Analog trunk = 999
Analog trunk group = 99
ARS Digits Dialed = *70 set to Route 99
ARS Route 99 = Trk grp 99, COR 64, MOD Dig 99
ARS MOD DIG 99 = Absorb 1 digit, Insert #
COR 64 = Blank

Any set dialing *70 will use ext analog stn 9*99 to dial #70

Voila

Thanks KwbMitel, tomorrow i will try it and i let you know

I knew about a loopback trunk and made it once in the course
But you can do this without the analog port and trunk

Do you need an iptrunk for this then ?

Tlpeter, Yes it can be done with loopback IP Trunks.

The programming for IP trunks is more complicated however, and harder to troubleshoot if it doesn't work.

Also, there are some features that an IP trunk can't access while an analog station can. Using the analog loopback covers more scenarios in other words.

Most controllers these days come with extra ONS and Trunks on the Analog Main Board that no one uses anyway. This puts them to good use.

For more information on setting up loopback trunks you can use the search term "Loopback" in the help files and select the option "Configuring a virtual loopback IP Trunk"

Thanks i will give this a shot when i have time
There are funny things that can be done with loopback trunks :)

I tried the suggested setup (with the analog loopback) and it worked (thanks again kwbMitel). After several tests, I am getting the busy tone. I tried the FAC of the paging from an IP phone I get the message: PAGER IS BUSY.
I tried the busy/RTS commands without success. Is there any other way then the reset to bring back the paging?
