Hi all.. I have an MICS 6.1 system and I am wondering if there is a way to adjust the volume of the paging to a zone (or systemwide). Almost everyone is in zone 1. All those who are not in zone 1 are in no page zone. I have tried turning on the page and using the volume bar with no luck. I have considered purchasing external paging equipment but I would like to avoid that if at all possible.

Thanks in advance.

Only an external paging controller (with a volume control) will allow you to adjust the volume system wide. Your only other option is to have individual volume controls for each speaker installed (which would probably only allow you to adjust down from your current level.) That is unless you have horns, which usually already have an integrated volume control.

Page volume is adjusted at the receiving end not by the person paging. Adjust ALL set volumes DURING a page. The default page volume on 6.1 software is quite high.

Volume adjusting depends on several factor... type of and revision of set, In 6.1 software there is a parameter in "System Programing" for using and keeping set volume or using system volume... which returns volumes to there default value when the set returns to idle. By default it it is set to system.

If you are using older M series telephones (pre rev 17) this setting has no effect and system volume is always used. There is no way to adjust the default level of system volumes. T series phones will keep adjusted volumes when "set volume" is selected.

Aha... I'll try adjusting all of the sets.. they are 7316E sets except the receptionist (who does 99% of the paging) - hers is a 7324... If that doesn't work I may have to work on some sort of external paging because right now the page volume is going to get us sued for causing deafness!

Lanstien, disregard my post. I answered your question as if you had external speakers and power supply, but no controller.

Watch how the receptionist pages.

You should talk into the handset the same as you are talking to someone else on the phone. Alot of users grab the handset & talk directly into the face, instead of across it.

If the receptionist is doing it properly- have her pull it slightly away from her face(thumb on chin) distance.

I also train users to talk(page) as if you are talking to someone you really like. Don't raise your voice. It makes a difference.

Always use release after paging- to eliminate the "Auction House" effect

Well turning the volume down on every phone did the trick! Thanks as always for the help!
