Hi,

I am trying to get my paging speaker to work in a paging group. I am now changing my analog station port to a "Paging Speaker". I am told it is supposed to change the icon but mine never changes. Is this important?

Also, do I have to physically turn the unit off and reboot or will a simple reboot do it from manager?

Version 3.2(50)

Thanks.

You need to phyisically remove power to change to a paging port. What ever you are going to use for a paging interface make sure it can take raw audio and not a contact closure. If it needs a contact closure you will need a upam and a standard analog port. If you do use an analog port then you can't add the extension to the paging group with phones.

Thanks for that information. What I have is a Bogen TAMB and Radio Shack Amp and am using an analog station port. I did not have the extension set up as a paging speaker and although it worked fine dialing the station number it would not work as part of my paging group.

What I thought I needed to do was change it to a paging speaker and remove the TAMB and go directly to the amplifier. In the IP Office job aid for attaching 3rd party paging equipment, it shows going directly to the paging amplifier but does mention something about isolation. Is the TAMB needed for isolation? If so, how do I configure the TAMB to work correctly in this situation?

Any help would be appreciated as I need to finally get this working like they want it.

Thanks.

I think the isolation they are talking about is a surge protection device. Something to keep the system from taking a hit if power was feed back to it.
