Hello all,
I am hoping someone can answer this question for me. I have an IBM S80 with 4 procs and 4GB RAM. It is connected to an Hitachi SAN and has 2 18GB internal disks mirrored.

My question is:
My swap or paging space is being hit pretty hard and I want to create a secondary paging space across some of my SAN Disk. Is this possible or will the system not boot? My understanding is that the Primary paging space is located on HD6 and cannot be touched but needs to be there for the system to be booted.

Can I have a secordary paging space on the SAN volumes?

What are the limitations of size for total paging space?

I beleive the max amount of paging space is only 2 GB. If this is so, can I reduce the size of my Primary paging space?
Thanks in advance,

TAke a look at this thread -- it may answer some of your questions: thread52-542556

As long as you keep hd6 in rootvg, you can put additional paging space on other disks. I've had up to 8 GB of paging space on a system in 4 different paging spaces. (I made them all 2 GB because hd6 was 2 GB.)
