I have an IP 500.
The customer has a GAI Tronics paging system in the plant.
This system used to work on a Merlin Ledgend system on a 008 OPT card.

I have tried to hook it up to a station port, and a co line, still does not work with th ipo.

I have installed a WMT1A on the line, still no good.

I have s[poken to Gai Tronics, and the unit needs a 75 volt ring gen to answer. i have hooked up an active co line, called it, and it does not answer.

does anyone have any idea?

An expensive one..I'm npt familiar with the GIA Tronics product, but I bet a Bogen UT1 will make it work.

Sounds like it isn't configured in the way they describe... or it's broken as you've taken the system out the equation. FYI the IPO does not generate that much ring voltage anyway :)

Telecombiy,

i have a Bogen UTP1 onsite. i have tried to install that, but it doesn't work as well, or maybe i am installing it wrong

They are pretty self-explanatory. Plug the IPO line port (set to loop start, not loop start caller id) into the line input of the UTI1, connect the page t/r of the UTI1 to the input of the GIA.

When troubleshooting paging it is best to have a butt set. You can put it into monitor mode and hear where the signal is getting lost as you test page. Put the butt set on the page output of the UTI1 and see if you hear the page there. If so, it is something beyond that point.

Telecomboy,

I did that, and i get the page to the GAI Tronics port, but does not page thru the unit?

If the GAItronics paging system was working on an 008OPT card in a Legend, that was a single line port, with a higher ringing voltage and talking current (OPT is for single-line Off Premise Telephones). So on the Legend, to page, they would call an extension, which would ring once, and then connect them to the input of the amplifier. Like a "Centrex" paging adapter.

A UTI-1 is not going to generate any kind of ringing voltage to trip the GAItronics paging setup. Perhaps you can figure out where the audio signal exits the single line interface and inputs to the amplifier, and connect the output of the UTI-1 there.

Sometimes, it takes an external Phone-16 module to interface to equipment like door phones, when phone ports on embedded cards don't cut it.
