You will need to be able to access the paging system with a analog station programmed as a page port. You can't add trunks to a page group. I may be able to help you further if you specify what paging system you are connecting to as some of them don't play well with the IPO.

Okay. That one is a little tricky since it is a 3 zone system.
For that one you will need a Bogen WMT-1A connected to the background music input to send out an all page with out needing to dial an access code.
It is a 600 ohm to 15K ohm transformer. Telephone input to line level output. The IPO needs to see the 600 ohm to make the page port work.
I see in the short code the page is specific to zone two. Is that correct? If that is the case there are DIP switches that control which zones get music.
I would keep the trunk access for zone paging.
I hope that helps.

If they are only using one zone you can take the 2003 out and use a Valcom VMT-2. It is a straight 600-600 transformer. Connect one side to the IPO page port and the other to the Valcom audio pair. The only reason you may need to leave the the 2003 is if they are using it for power for the speakers.
You are more than welcome. I am the paging/special systems guy for our company. The 17 years working on the IPO is just a bonus.

budbyrd: They are indeed only using one zone. The company that sold them the paging system sold them a 3 zone for an unknown reason. They are a vet clinic and only page w/one zone.
I will check out the Valcom VMT-2. Would this device use an analog station port, rather than the trunk port I am using for the 2003?
Yes. It will use the page port. You could disconnect the trunk and fix the short code to be Dial Paging/ext# if you needed to do just an overhead page.

Yes. Just program the analog port as a paging speaker. The VMT-2 has input and output screw terminals. The IPO analog port wires just like an analog phone except the wht/blu pair connects to the input of the VMT-2. Since you are using zone two, remove the R/G-G/R pair field wiring from the 66 block connected to the V-2003. Leave all the wiring in place. Connect the field wiring to the output of the VMT-2 and you are done.
This link is the manual for the V-2003. On page 8 is the wiring diagram that will give a more visual idea of the wiring. All you are doing is connecting the audio pair to the speakers and leaving the power pairs.
