Greetings All!

Can I get my CME to page an offsite group connected via VPN?

Thank you for all replies.

I would say YES given that the phones are registered with CME and you set them in a paging group.... Verify QOS!!!!

Jeter,

The phones register and are a part of the paging group. When I page I can see the phone responding to the page by showing "Paging Group 1 " on the telephone, but no audio can be heard.

Maybe a routing issue? Verify your routes to and from the vpn...

Are you testing from a remote site or from another phone via the vpn?

Isn't a page a multicast stream? Thus a standard IPSEC VPN wont work.

That's a good thought, I am not a vpn expert so I do not have the answer... (paging ip 239.1.1.1 port 2000).

I did pool up TAC case collection on one way audio regarding
IPSEC/VPN issues (Solution# K21063671).

Jeter, yes that would mean the page is a multicast stream. Thus the only way for it to work would be IPSEC in a gre tunnel.

Reading more into this and it appears you are correct.

Hopefully the Cisco Solution will help resolve this problem...

brianims is correct.
paging needs multicast enabled through a GRE tunnel.
it is a simple configuration.
