Paging over OPX's?

Customer has Legend 7.0 with OPX lines connecting extensions less than 1.5 miles apart. At the base location, they have overhead paging through a trunk port and she wants to know how she can get overhead paging across to the OPX location. I have no idea if this is even possible. Thanks in advance.

This would require another circuit to the OPX Location, and another paging amplifier/system at the OPX Location, as well.

The circuit would be connected to a zone of the paging system thru a device which would pad it down to ZERO (or close to it) DB's. Some paging units could do that for you.

At the other end of the circuit, the other amp would then amplify it to be heard.

It has to go thru the outside wires as ZERO DB to keep from bleeding over into the other circuits in the cable.

Merlin,
Thanks for the info. When the OPX lines were installed, I informed her that it never hurts to have a few extra for the "Just in Cases" of the world. So she DOES have an extra pair strung between the two locations. Can this single pair be used to accomplish what I'm trying to do here? If so, can you please tell me where I can get concrete, detailed information on doing this? Thanks, dude!

Alas, only one pair....

Is this a DRY LOOP?

-OR- Does it have some equipment from the Phone company on it.

Usually, a circuit provisioned as an 0L13C - the kind you would order for an extension, would have some equipment on it some where.

There could be a need for some engineering/consulting to design something that would work with this.

ALSO, what kind (brand/model) of paging do they have at location 1???

I actually have not been to the site. I was proposed this by our sales dept and wanted to know if it was even possible, so that is where I am at with it now. Since my first post on this, I have discovered that they do already have a second paging system in place at the satelite location.

To answer your question regarding tel Co equipment on the OPX's, I would have to guess that it DOES indeed go throught the CO....it almost seems that it would have to in order to boost the signal.

I also do not know what type of paging. I'm more concerned right now ,in knowing if it is even feasible or possible and if I should even be spending time on this.

Shim-

If I may add a chuckle! But, I do believe Avaya's answer would be........

"It may work, but it is not supported."

How many times have we run into that?
