Hi I have a norstar meridian phone system in our office, and I want to be able to use a "shortcut" code to page, right now its feature 63.. Is it possible to do something so that we can just pick up the phone and dial a number like 8#1 and page instead of having to use feature.

No but you can program one of your buttons on the phone

If you want to page all just f*3/press the button you want to set as your page all button/press f610
If you want a choice between phone and speakers/ follow same procedure/press f60

I think if your paging system requires a line port to page then you would set the line on your set and press it to then enter your codes to page

I didn't know that you could use a line port for paging on a norstar....with all do respect, why not just program a page button. just curious...

In certain cases you have to use a trunk port for paging, if you didn't know that could be done on a Norstar system then I'd say you haven't been installing them very long. As previously stated you can program the page code onto a button. Do you have any zones set up or just single zone paging? That would determine the proper page feature to program on your sets.

do read the other thread on paging that is running
Valcom products goes through a line port, a Tortech does not, I believe, in the end I think there are 2 types of paging, self amplified and 70V system, both have different approach.

Sorry you took my comment the wrong way, when dealing with various paging equipment is when I've came across having to use a trunk port versus the page port. I guess I just found it odd that you have never seen that before if your a Norstar installer.

I've seen the separate paging controller in places like schools, which have an independent paging system and they are smart enough to want to tie their Norstar or Meridian 1 system into the PA system, via an analog trunk port vs. using the proprietary microphone or handset supplied with the PA system.

No Problem Norstarboy, I may have taken it the wrong way. I have seen that implemented on comdial and panasonic systems awhile back but never on norstar since we have always used valcom paging horns or an a paging amp w/ 70 v and common contacts. But the info is good to know. Thanks
