Hello,
We have an IP500v2 unit running IP Office Manager 8.1 and 9641G desk phones. I created a short code to page all 93 employees' desk phones, but I'm reluctant to test it out since it exceeds the number of recommended users for paging. Anybody know what kind of problems this could cause? It was requested that we have this type of paging capability in cases of emergency. Since there is a recommended limit, would it be better to create two short codes, one with half of the employees and another with the other half? On the same note, are there any panic button modules that interface with Avaya. We'd like a 2 button module that can be programmed to call a cell phone number (on duty officer) and 911 if the need arises.

Thanks

The issue arises, from what I've seen, that not all phones are paged. If people are on the phone, guess what, they are not paged! This really should be an OVERHEAD page, over loud speakers. I would never use direct phone paging for emergencies as the first line. Especially not that many! But I guess two short codes will work in a pinch.

As for panic buttons...eh...not that I've seen, other than a side button modules, but it won't support 93 of them. You could just put two of the buttons on the 9641 to duty office and 911; not sure why it's so hard to dial 911 though, it's pretty ingrained.

I've seen on a non avaya system something called multicast, which basically sent a single voice signal to the PoE switch, and it thgen relayed it through to all the IP phones (once configured) I don't know if Avaya have something similar, but possibly called something else. If so it may help

I have paged 120+ Dig phones before, seemed OK. It isn't going to blow up or anything and Dig phones would cause more strain/stress to the system than paging IP.... just try it :)

I'm sure you remember the issue with the power supplies! Trying to page more than a certain number of phones would kill it. Though, that has been rectified for some time.

It didn't though, this was 4.something so the newer supplies were already in use, wont effect IP phones either way :)

It effected a customer of ours. Expansion module would reboot when doing phone paging! But yes, that was a long time ago. And yes, I know it won't effect ip phones.
