I inherited a Norstar system and have been told you used to be able to page to a specific area. e.g. I have two buildings and the user just wants to page Building II. Is this possible and where/how would I set this up.

Thanks,

Under Feature * * 2 6 6 3 4 4 ->terminals & Sets->configuration -> paaging zones: you can there set any of up to 8 zones. these are internal zones of the phone system not external zones on overhead PA. you page a perticular zone with feature 6 1 then the zone number ie Feat 6 1 1 for zone one and eat 6 1 2 for zone 2 feat 6 1 0 is all zones.

If you are talking about external zone paging, you will need to install a zone paging unit from Bogen or Viking. That will then need to be connected to an availabnle analog trunk port. Then you can assign an acces code to that group.

If you are going external (like mentioned above) there is also an external page port that is accessd under feat 62 or feat 63x. Problem I see with using a trunk port is it is outside of the paging features.

When I page I use Feature 60 and it asks if I want SETS, SPKR, or BOTH. After I choose a selection, it prompts me for enter zone or I may select all. How can I determine what the zones or what extensions/dns are in what zone?

Thanks,

look at each station's configuration under terminals & sets ->configuration ->Page zone:__ you will have to look at all of your stations. this will tell you what zone each phone is. if you don't see page zone:__ then set pageing to Y and go back onestep (previous)

Using feature 6 0 is the generic starting point. you also have feature 6 1 (station zone page) with prompts
feature 6 2 (external page)
feature 6 3 (station zone page plus external page)with prompts
Feature 6 3 1 (station zone 1 page plus external page)
feature 6 3 2 (station zone 2 page plus external page)
feature 6 3 0 (all station zone pages plus external page)
so you see you have a lot of options beyond just feature 60
