I am high school teacher holding a Pagemaker class. The school is replacing 98 computers with XP computers. I have blended in my room. Pagemaker is working fine on the 98 computer but I get sporadic problems on the XP computers such as closing with no error message when placing text, inability to save changes to the color palette, missing fonts, and Adobe Table that does not work. I have researched the topic on Adobe and think I have a two fold problem. One is trying to use a network but I have a fix for that I am going to try. The second one is more tricky and I think it is going to involve setting user privileges with Pagemaker. Has anyone had this situation and done this? Did it solve the problem? How long does the fix take? Do you have to free up access to everything or can you limit it to Pagemaker?

I realize this could get long and technical. If you prefer you can reply to me at Sara.H.Highum@sendit.nodak.edu

Which version of PM are you using? To be honest, you're on a losing wicket here, even with PM7.

You're not going to be able set up PM to accept individual preferences, and PM is not known for reliabilty when working with files over a network.
In fact Adobe strongly recommend you don't.

PM is a very old piece of sofware, and it's time to move on to InDesign. Moving on to InDesign
