Pagemaker and .eps files

I have a 150 page document (annual report). There are alot of graphs which I created in Excel, saved as a .pdf, opened in Illustrator and saved as a black and white .eps file and placed into Pagemaker. The whole document will be sent to press (black and white). The graphs in the .pdf are jumbled and upside down. Does anyone know why or what I should do. I am using Pagemaker 6.5 and Illustrator 9.

Is the PDF you are referring to the one you make from Excel or the one you make from the completed PM document?

When you save the EPS, save down to a lower version. Not sure how low you need to go with PM6.5 but the problem occurs because V9 AI is a lot newer than PM 6.5 and EPS is not backwards compatible.

Lyn's correct - you need to save the EPS as Illustrator Ver8. There should be such an option in Illustrator Ver9.
