I need to reduce the time it takes for the page to timeout. I have read that it is possible but can't seem to find the option to change it. I think I may have an older system...When I go into Feature **CONFIG the menu categories are A.Configuration B. General Admin C.Set Copy D. Maintenance. I don't have a TERMINALS AND SETS menu category.
Thanks

NEVER SEEN A TIMER FOR PAGE, SHOULD DROP AS SOON AS YOU HANG UP

On the newer version of software its under System Programming -> Feature Settings. I would have to see an older version to tell you where it is. My best guess would be somewhere in General Admin section. SOrry hope that at least points you in the right direction

OK I found an old installer guide in stash of goodies (or junk as my wife calls it). Page Timeout is located under
A. Configuration -> 3. Call Handling then next to Page timeout. Timeout options are 15, 30, 60, 120, 180, 300 and 2700

I wonder if maybe I am using the wrong password...I can get to Configuration -> Call Handling, but then my options are only Held Reminder:, Remind Delay, DRT to Prime:, DRT Delay, Trnsfr callbk:, Park Prefix:, Park timeout:, Camp Timeout:, Directd pickup:, ON hold: Tones

Does **admin provide more config options than **config? I don't have the password for **admin and none of the normal ones work.

Maybe its possible that the level software you have doesn't support the Page Timeout feature.

That's a bummer...thanks for your help!

BrandonZ:
there are access levels within the **Config admin area, use the config password then you should see the A.configuration level.

This option does not exist on the software version that you have if you have A. Config. as your first option.
Go on the page port of the system & remove the jumper that goes to your paging system. With a butt set
listen to see if the page stops as soon as you hang up from paging. This contact is only an open & close.
I have seen Page Ports blow but never one that stays open. Could be your paging equipment holding the port open.

Sorry CTCINY you were right there was an old release of
MICS T1.1 that had the paging timer under Call Handling.

The problem I am having is that when people out on the shop floor complete their page, they don't always get the phone hung up properly. This makes the supervisors have to go around to each phone in the plant until they find the one that is off the hook. It is very frustrating for them and is also dangerous if it happens in an emergency situation.

the DR5 also had the same options.. cannot say for sure on DR1 etc.

I would say that you have a pretty good gripe to get them upgraded to a newer release software.

Definitely. You could also hook up a timing device to provide an open contact after a specified duration. (I think Hawks is looking for one too, if you find one,)

Try Viking.

If I remember correctly DR5.1 & MICS 4.0 started Page Timeout.

All you can do is try again to teach the users on the shop floor to use the Rls button when done paging.

You know when they aren't because it is not a silent hangup.
Everyone will hear the "Auction House" effect.

After a while, most times the other employees can tell the user by their voice.
