Page Setup always reverts from A4 to Letter in 2002 1

Hi,

I've got a database I've developed for many years that has slowly migrated it's way from 95 all the way through to 2002 (2000 file format).

I've hit a bit of a snag in that some of the reports that I have imported won't change from Letter page size to A4. If I change the page size (with a 'default printer') with page setup for that report, it seems happy enough to change but as soon as I go back into page setup it's back to Letter.

Here's the weird thing (if that already wasn't). A new form WILL retain it's page setup (as you would expect). So, rather than having to rewrite 60 reports what can I do to fix this? I've seen posts that list a bug in Access 2000, but that isn't the same problem here.

I'm running Access 2002 SP-2.

Thanks,

Hi,

I have an answer myself, which I thought others might be interested in.

The Page Setup function didn't change the report. Rather, I had to actually Print (File, Print) the report and change the printer setup from Letter to A4 in there. NOTE: I actually had to PRINT the report for the changes to take effect.

That's the solution, but what's the explanation?!? Why would one report allow a page setup, yet another (that was imported) revert to old settings? And again, but were setup to "default printer".

Thanks,

MBP

What was the default printer paper size set at (in the printer driver preferences in control panel) when the report was designed?
I have heard several times that this is taken as the default paper size.

Jbento,
Try changing paper size to A4, then create a new report and save it, change the printer paper size settings back to Letter and see if you have the same problem in reverse.

Have a start MBP, this problem has plagued me for some time. Seems that Access just doesn't save the page setup settings unless forced by printing the report.

I found the answer to my problem.

Create a new report, change the page setup settings to landscape and legal, save the report. I then had to bring up a print window, hit the properties button, go into the advanced settings, change one of the settings to Legal Size, print the report, save the new settings of the report.

That did it. Now it's set the correct way when any user brings up the report.
