Hi,

I am sure this is simple to fix but not sure how to start searching for an answer!

I have a html form which is quie long, in order to complete the form the user must scroll down the page. When the user submits the form by clicking a button the page refreshes but the refreshed page is viewed partially scrolled down - to the level of the submit button.

Of course this is very annoying, and if the refreshed page is short sometimes the user sees a partially blank page and has to scroll up each time.

Anyone know how to fix this please?

Many thanks,

Rob.

This is certainly not I would consider to be "normal" behaviour for a web browser!

Have you set a doctype for your page?
Does your page validate?
What browser (and OS) are you experiencing this on?
Do you have a URL (or a test page) showing this for us to try?

A few questions up front... and hopefully we can sort it out quickly [smile]

Jeff

Jeff,

Many thanks for the reply.

Browser is IE5, XP o/s.

Doc type:

<meta name="document-type" content="Web Page">

I should probably explain that the page use an i-frame. Altohugh, the i-frame is as long as the form to it has no scroll bars. Users must use the scroll bars of the main browsers to complete the form.

Unfortunately the page is behind a protexted area and it involved sensitive data so I cannot post a url and u/p. However if requird I could make a mock-up of the page on some webspace if it'd help.

Thanks,

Rob.

That's not a DOCTYPE as such.
Read this:
Though I don't think that's your problem in this case.
Perhaps...
If the form is in the iFrame then it is the iFrame that is refreshing and not the page it is in. That is why the whole page does not jump back to the top as it were.

Ok that makes sense now that I come to think of it, but any idea how to resolve the issue?

Surely the i-frame should jump to the top of the page as any instance of the browser itself would?
