Does anyone know why the PageRank reported in the Google Toolbar for a site is sometimes higher when the page is visted via Google than when going there directly?

As an example: visit - it has a PageRank of 1 / 10. Now do a search on Google for Nokia 2100 (grey) - result is - and choose the second result. The exact same page as far as I can see, only now it has a PageRank of 4 / 10

I would love an explanation of this. I have a client whose site has been listed for a couple of years and who used to have PageRanks of 1 or 2 on his dynamically generated pages which now have PR0. I suspect the reason is the same as above but cannot understand why this would happen.

Would appreciate any advice on this.

Thanks

Stuart

The Google toolbar is never accurate at the best of times, various factors stop the PR bit working properly. It's only a approximate measure (read guess) of PR that is shown on the toolbar anyhow and as PR only relates to backlinks, it will mean even less than nothing for a dynamic page where links will be 99.9% 'inhouse'
So the best thing is to don't worry about PageRank it means very little for SERP ranking anyway.

after all if PR was that important wouldn't Google be No 1 for this?
