This is document related (not book) question:

I'm trying to number the pages of a document (not book)according to >Heading 1 + page no. eg: 1-1, 1-2, then 2-1, 2-2 on pages related to the second heading. The second heading is also Heading 1 style(autonumbered). The TOC etc. are roman numerals.

The appendices are to be numbered A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2 etc.
How can this be done.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

In order to get different page numbering within the same document, you will need to use several master pages. You can create a new master page by going to Format>page layout>new master page. You then apply master pages to body pages by goingt to Format>page layout>master page usage. This way you can put different headers and footers on the different master pages to correspond with what you want for different sections of your doc. Now, if you want the page numbering to start over with each section, you may have a problem. I would play with Format>Document>numbering.

I would encourage you however, to consider making the different sections of your document different files and then incorporate them into a book file. If you have a table of contents and appendix, it sounds like the document is long enough for this to be a good choice. You will have much more flexibility with numbering etc this way, and when you convert to pdf, no one will know if it was designed as a book or not.

I hope th
