Page Header showing on every page in PDF..

..even though in the report properties I have ticked Print on first page and unticked Print on last page.

Is there something else I need to set that I am obviously missing?

I only want the header to show on Page 1.

I think the Header is supposed to be on every page. If you want it to only appear on the first page then perhaps you can do a Hidden=IFF(PageNumber=1, False, True) to the objects found with in the header.
