Greetings all,
I've got a client that has a problem accessing websites with his browser. He has online access because he can receive email. This problem occurs when he attempts to reach any site: The page will start to load, and then it will hang. No error message pops up.
I've dumped his tcp/ip stack, deleted temp files and cookies, attempted to gain access through windows explorer, disable anti-virus & firewalls alike. It seems like either a DNS error or a firewall issue. The customer can ping to yahoo.com, that made me think it wasn't a DNS issue. Also had him download latest windows updates & run system file checker.
He's running a windows XP with a generous amount of system resources. He runs spyware removal software and antivirus - both updated. Winsock error perhaps? Any ideas?

Thanks, Ben

I ran into something like that with Windows 2K and IE. What I found is in thread608-912432

As it is Internet Explorer you could try this fix?

Internet Explorer Fix

Try running temporarily with the box "Enable Third Party Browser Extensions" (IE/ Tools/ Internet Options/ Advanced) unchecked and see how this goes.

"This specifies that you want to disable features you installed for use with Internet Explorer that may have been created by companies other than Microsoft.
If you encounter problems with Internet Explorer that you cannot resolve, you can use this option to help determine if third-party features are causing the problems without uninstalling the feature. You must restart Internet Explorer after turning this option on or off."

If that stops your errors, you will know where the trouble is.
