I have a report that I want to break on Dorm Room and have looked in the grouping/sorting tab but can not get it to break like it should.

After you set up the group, answer yes for group footer.

Then, right click on the group footer bar,select format, and under force new page, put after section.

No problem.

I need to have last names in alphabetical order. In my query I have the field last name as ascending and in the sorting/grouping I have last name as ascending. The last name is not being listed alphabetically as it should.

Is Lastname the first item in your sort/grouping options in the report?

Last Name is the last item.
It is in this order in sort/group;
Dorm Plan
Dorm Room
Last Name

I need the dorm plan and dorm room to be listed alphabetically and within them the last name to be listed alphabetically.

The field name is Last Name, with a space? Spaces are evil, especialy when the word contains access reserved words, like Name.

Try putting brackets around Last Name in the sorting/grouping. If that works, Change the field name in the query to Last_Name or something. See if that helps.

The field name is Last_Name. I'm sorry for not telling you this. Any suggestions now???? What can I do when I have the criteria as ascending for the field in the query and sort??

I dunno. Can you list two or three last names, and list the order they are being put on the report? Maybe I will see something.

Last_Name First_Name Middle_Name Room
Sewell Benjamin Reed A1001
Height Jonathan Lan A1002
Rasmussen Austin Alexander A1011

As you can see the rooms list ascending and I. Stop I see the problem. I will have to make a change and let you know.

I needed the Last_Name listed alphbetically but could not do this if the Dorm_Room was listed ascending. I changed it to Dorm_Plan ascending and Last_Name ascending and removed Dorm_Room and it works great. Thanks for your ideas and help here also!!

My report has the following headings;
People_Code_ID ALL THREE OF THESE HAVE A GROUP HEADER
Legislator Name
Legislator ID

Applicant Name NO HEADER FOR THIS ONE

The problem I am having is that the will break while it lists Applicant Name and puts half of the names on the next page breaking it up. I prefer to have the People_Code_Id,
Legislator Name, Legislator ID, Applicant Name on the same page.

HELP!!!
