When a document that was created in Word on one machne is opened on another machine running the same version of word the page breaks that were created in the original are blown away. Any thoughts???
Word works out using the printer driver how much it can fit on a page. Some printers have a dead area on the paper which cannot be printed on (eg where rollers grip the paper to feed it through). The driver will allow for this. So different printers with different size dead areas means different page breaks.
Another possibility is that you are using fonts built into the printer which could differ from one model to another.
Finally, if the printers have different resolutions this can impact. A printer working at 1200 by 1200 dpi may find it can get an extra word onto a line compared with one working at 300 by 300. Again this will impact on page breaks.
Nice explanation, Ken! *Dead area* is a good description. I never could find a good description for that. A star for you! Anne Troy

Dead area = non printable area. This can vary on the same printer!
Some printers will allow printing to A4 for instance, but will also support A4 edge to edge which actually has a much smaller non printable area. It might be edge to edge but there is still a tiny gutter that you can't access!
Depending on the app, some apps on the same machine will appear to print differently depending on where the margin is set!
