Page banner vs frame

In Frontpage XP, I have a page (default.htm) divided in three frames std
(top, left, right)

My problem is when trying using the banner. In my left frame are my
hyperlinks. I would like to change the text in the banner (located in top
frame) when clicking on hyperlinks of the left frame.

I used before banners, but without frame and I understand the general
navigation structure, but I miss something. Actually, navigation structure
is as follow. I have the default, with two pages under and linked (thaks
to hyperlinks of the left frame). I have added top and left frame pages
beside the default without any link. What's wrong?

Do I understand that page banners don't work with frames?

in your hyperlink you set the frame where you want the page loaded into...
or set the frames default target in the framepage html
