Creating an export file out of a standard Access database. This report reads certain information, formats it, and creates a header record. Said header record needs to be 79 positions, but the data in the header only takes me out to 38, so I need to pad spaces on the right, or the file will fail on its subsequent import into the GL posting system.
I've got the formula for the header in the Page Header section, the formulas for the records in the Detail section, don't need a trailer.
Anyway, I can pad the spaces in the formula. I cannot make them stick during the export using the plain flat txt engine. I CAN get them to stick if I use the Character Separated export engine and delete the Separator and Delimiter (I need a plain ol' fixed width data file).
I want to use the txt export engine, as I don't want my client to have to punch through the dialog boxes that pop up when using the char sep export every time they want to run the file out.
I've tried forcing a cr-lf in the formula afer my space padding, which gets me my extra spaces, but then I get two line feeds (one because I've jumped from the PH to the D, and the one I'm forcing in the formula).
I'm beginning to think I've got a funky dll somewhere. The report took me 2 hours to whip out, and I've been wrestling with this export problem for two days. Just doesn't seem right! I've looked all over, I just can't believe I'm the only one who needs records with trailing spaces in a txt file. Any help greatly appreciated!
