Now that my Router-on-a-Stick is setup, I noticed I'm getting some packet loss. And I can't figure out where it's coming from.

I have a laptop plugged into the Switch at VLAN3. I'm running a continuous ping to the Management interface of the Switch, and the default gateway on the Router.

I let it go overnight, and here are the results:

Min: 1ms
Max: 781ms
Avg: 187ms

I tried upgrading the IOS on the Switch and the Router, and it did seem to help a little. But pings are still kind of high. What can I do to troubleshoot this? Thanks in advance.

Don't see anything unusual when I do a show interface. Strange thing is, if I move my other laptop to the same VLAN there is hardly any packet loss at all.

The laptop getting the packet loss is a brand new Toshiba tablet. The laptop not getting any is a old P3 Gateway Solo. Very strange.

I'd check for late collisions, or a duplex mismatch then.

Well it sounds like you might have it narrowed down to the laptop or the cable if you are not using the same cable. Have you tried updating the drivers on your laptop?

I agree with burt try changing the ports from auto to manually setting both to 100MB Full duplex.
