I've installed a new HDD 40GB (7200rpm), ATA 133, but my PC does not acknowledge it.

Ive checked the Master/Slave configuration and its fine.

Make: Packard Bell PC
CPU: 400Mhz MMX (intel celeron)
Memory: 64MB

Im suspecting that my mobo does not support the new HDD.

Is there any way around this?
I want to upgrade the BIOS but not sure if this would sort the problem!

Please help

You will probably have to use the drive overlay that came with the hard drive. It will be on the cd.
Probably EZ-Bios. I doubt that you will be able to find a bios update for that motherboard.

I did not get any CD with the Hard drive, Can I use a third party program

Go to the maufacturers web site and use there free program. It fits on a floppy. But use only the one for you manufacturer. Maxtor for Maxtor's etc.

Thanks

I used another option: I changed the jumper setting to Limited Capacity as the BIOS will only recognise <=32GB.

This method seemed to work!

Thanks for your help
