Hi,
I need aHelp in this one.

How to Package my Oracle forms and reports developed along with the libraries, pictures and icon into a single unit for installation. Currently following the method of copying
the files separately in different folders.

If I understand your question correctly, you're looking for an installer creation program.

I can strongly recommend Inno Setup from Its completely free and is very powerful.

What I do is to load all my files for a single application into one folder, then set the 'Start In' property of the desktop/start menu icon to point to the application folder. I've never had any problems running my applications this way. I set my installer script to interrogate the register for ORACLE_HOME so I can point the icon to the correct forms runtime executable.

Thanks for the useful reply.
I just want to know that whether there is provision in Oracle forms to build a installation tool, So that on click of a setup function everything gets loaded. The file copying details should be transparent to the user. Without any tech support the user should be able to install the application.

Hi,
The Inno Setup is really fine.

I just want to know how to add the path in ORACLE_FORMS60 PATH using a script file

Do you mean the FORMS60_PATH registry variable? Try something like this in inno:

[Registry]
Root: HKLM; Subkey: "Software\Oracle"; ValueType: string; ValueName: "FORMS60_PATH"; ValueData: "{reg:HKLM\SOFTWARE\ORACLE,FORMS60_PATH};<your path>"

HKLM is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Subkey is the path of the key
Valuename is the name of the registry key you want to create
{reg:HKLM\....} reads the current value of a registry key (FORMS60_PATH in this case), and appends the value you want to create to it. This will preserve the current setting of FORMS60_PATH for you.

Hi,
Thanks. The tips are very much useful. I will try to incorporate it from my next work onwards.
