BCM400 version 4, recently had hard drive changed out. Has been running fine for a few weeks.
Now, customer unable to connect to EM, getting 'cannot determine device type' message.
Customer is using latest EM from the BCM.

Today I tried diallup via isdn, although the BCM answers with correct credentials, when I launch EM, I get the same message.
If I validate device in EM, it states it is a BCM400 system. I can ping the BCM and it responds.
I then launch Monitor, and enter the ip addy and username/password, and Monitor opens up.

On the first tab under software version, it states package system-release is not installed'

I have searched the Knowledge base on Nortel, and it does not provide us with an answer.

Has anyone seen this before?

Looks like another HDD to be installed.....

Had one do the same thing last week. Is the Apache server running? You can start it from the CLI using the command Net Start Apache once into the system via hyperterminal.

If thats not it, you could re-initialize the drive, cold start the BCM and restore it from a backup, provided you have one available.

Good Luck with it.
