How can I make the PDW change a ini file that it install to point to different paths depending on where I install it?
Also, is it possible to make it just change an existing Shared ini file by just adding a line when installing and removing the line when uninstalling?

Most of these kinds of things will require that you customize Setup1.

Using a newer packager, even VSI 1.1, will offer you options that are less painful - in the sense of not needing to keep track of multiple versions of Setup1 each time you package something.

How can I customize Setup1?

What would be the best other packager to use, that is free.

Setup1 is written in VB6. You should have the source already, in a folder within the PDW's Program Files folder:

[tt]C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\Setup1[/tt]

"Best" is a bad choice of word. This is how flame wars get started. ;-)

Microsoft Visual Studio Installer 1.1 is the latest available version of the tool Microsoft released to replace the PDW. It has been around since 2000 or so.

Thank you. I'll look into it, and hopefully it will be able to do what I want.
