HI,

I have p520 with AIX 5.2 + ML05.
The memory size looks strange (on 2GB machine -160MB is missing / on 4GB machine - 272MB is missing)

I played with the two quads (each time another quad and slots) but same results:

# bootinfo -r >>>

2GB - on 520: 1933312 on 6E3: 2097152

4GB - on 520: 3915776 on 6E4: 4194304

lsattr -E -l mem0 >>>

2GB - on 520: goodsize 1888 Amount of usable physical memory in Mbytes False
on 6E3: goodsize 2048 Amount of usable physical memory in Mbytes False

4GB - on 520: goodsize 3824 Amount of usable physical memory in Mbytes False
on 6E4: goodsize 4096 Amount of usable physical memory in Mbytes False

Any ideas ?

Long live king Moshiach !

With a power 5 , the hypervisor is allways active, and you allways run in LPAR mode( minimum 1 partition). This requires memory : at least 16 Mb for the Hypervisor Memory, and about 128 Mb for the TCE memory ( translation control ) which regulates your IO's.So this explains why you are missing some memory ...
