P2000i and Remote Procedure Call

Does P2000i use RPC in client/server environment? W2k Server, W98 and XP workstations. Was getting an error message stating user didn't have permission to access the Database. It was working after re-installing Active Directory, LSASS.exe was corrupt. But after new IT person went in it quit working again. He blamed it on RPC being deleted by a virus. I don't find anything on Pervasive's KB that would explain lack of RPC on server causing a rights issue.
