We have a Partner ACS R6 with Partner Messaging R6. Today, out of the blue, an incoming call is picked up by the AA, and the system says "your call is being transferred".Two lines are showing in use and Ext 10 gets the call on an intercom transfer.

I've double checked to see that the Messaging ports are in Hunt Group 7. We have no Line Coverage active. VMS Hunt Delay is set to 4 rings.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Our system config is:

206E
PMessaging R6
ACS R6

4 Lines
13 Extensions

Thanks again

It sounds to me like the lines are set to ring on the vmail exts. If you need to know how to shut the off just post and I'll help you.

Punchtool,
Thanks for the idea, however all lines at voice mail ports are set to "no ring". I thought that having them in HG7 would take care of that anyway, but didn't leave it to chance. I can dial the voice mail extensions and get the system.

Thanks

Hey OD,
How many port vmail? And your sure all ports are assigned to hunt 7!

Also if it just started happening you could restore the config #125.

Restart your system, either by cycling the power, or #728. I had a Partner Messaging die once, it acted as if it didn't recgonize the port card and ALL 6 ports answered in test mode, even though it was a 4 port license card.

You might try removing the lines from Ext. 30 and 31, just to make sure that they are not somehow answering. (and 28 and 29 if it is a 2-port card).

Also, if it continues, put an auto-intercom button for Ext. 26-31 on an extension and watch to see what shows in-use when it answers.

Thanks,
I've tried restarting the system. It is a 4 port so 26-29 should be my vm ports. I'll assign buttons to those ports and see what happens, but it does appear that multiple ports are trying to answer a call. When I dial those ext, the system answers with the usual, welcome to pm.

The system is so new (just purch in June) I hadn't thought about an early death! But I feel like I've covered my bases with the settings on the ACS.

I appreciate all the great ideas and assistance from everyone here!

Just a follow-up. I double checked Ext 30 & 31, they were not assigned. I noticed that Ext 78 & 79 had immediate line ringing, so I changed to no ring and voila. I didn't know that 78/79 should affect the system - anybody want to help a novice?

Thanks again. At least the girls in the office aren't ready to hang me this morning.

By the way..... The receptionist tells me that now when she tries to use the VM Transfer feature, the call is not immediately going into the ext's mailbox, instead it is ringing for the amount of their VMS cover rings.

I know I should be getting smarter, but it seems I'm just getting further and further over my head. Thanks to all of you guys!

Hi oscardad,
I was under the impression that the Partner Mail R6 counted ports from LOW to HIGH. Just like a regular card. That puts your VM ports at 24,25,26 & 27. Line ringing does not affect vm ports as the hunt group setting #7 does that for you (as you guessed).

Hey oscardad,
If you have a 308 proc. thats exts. 10-17,206ec thats 18-23,and vmail should be 24-27. Iagree with ipphoneguy. Just try to call those 4 ports and see what you get.

78 and 79 are the "virtual" extension numbers for PC Card Mail, it you don't have one in your system their line settings shouldn't affect anything.

It sounds like there might be some other extension other that your voice mail ports in hunt group 7, which would account for calls ringing 4 times before VM picks up on a Transfer to VM call. The call would ring at the "extra" port 4 times before hunting to a real port.

Drag out your programming overlay, go into system programming, #506-7-10, and look at the 2nd line of the display. Make sure it says "2-Not Assigned". Use the "Next Item" button to step through the extensions, and make sure that ONLY your voice mail ports are in the group.

For all you do, this Bud's for you!!!! Thanks to itpphoneguy, punchtool, and tttommy - you guys got me on track. I went upstairs, counted my extensions, put 24 & 25 back in the hg7, verified no other ext assigned and the receptionist will be a happy gal when she comes in today!

Thanks!
