I just got a call from the school that I work for. I had Virex 7.2 installed on the OSX computers. Someone recently installed Norton SystemWorks on one. The combination of Norton's antivirus app and Virex is a problem. 15 minutes after boot, the Mac suffers a kernel error and dies. The error.log file seems to point to the antivirus apps.

Before I get a chance to physically inspect the computer, can anyone give tips on uninstalling Norton's? I believe the CD is still available. Does Norton's have an automatic uninstaller on the CD or will this require a manual cleaning? I have not used Norton's in OSX much.

nevermind - Symantec.com seems to have answered this.

I have the same problem. What did Symantec say? (I couldn't find the answer).

The support section for Norton's has a page devoted to uninstalling. Just choose the program from the product list on their support page.

My Mac was still ill even after I fixed the matter of two anti-virus apps. The crash log just happened to include info on the apps that were running during the crash.

My problem with my Mac crashing was actually due to the external USB hub bug in OSX 10.2.5. Updating to 10.2.6 solved the problem.
