How can I know the write rights assigned to a file
on an a AS400?

you need to look at the person security profile. wrkusrprf *all,, will give you everyone,, the choose the person you want. Then choose option 12, work with object by owner, to see what they have rights to,, depending on what software you are using,, you may have to look else where.

Ok, if I understand in that case I'll be looking it from the point of view of what a user have access to. Is there another command to see from the point of view of the object?

you can do a wrkobj hit cmd4,, or F4,, if you do not know the keys,, type the file and library name,, then do *file,, for object type.. once there you can do an option 5, display authority,, see what this gets you..
