Hi friends,
I am currently having a bit of a problem with a mail server.
I have a windows 2003 server r2. It is "dedicated server" running in a provider's environment. I can fully administer it via remote desktop.
After registering a domain, I have configured pop3 and smtp on that server to use it as our domain mail server.
(Will use exchange server in the future, but n/a yet).
Now my problem is this: The server functions, I can send and receive mail using the newly created accounts on the newly created domain.
Receiving mails works fine and fast.
Sending however takes very long time (half an hour or more).
The mails vanish from the outbox and appear in sent items within seconds, but they don't arrive at their destination until ages later!
It seems to me that perhaps smtp takes that long to lookup the destination domain, or the like.
Can you give me a hint as to what the problem could be and how to resolve it?
Thanks a lot!
Andy
