Hi All,

Can someone please help me with accessing OWA using servername.mydomain.com. I can get it to work ok using a static address. I have followed the remote access wizard and entered the correct info. Is there something I have to do at ISP.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you need to have a host record in public DNS. Typically you will use whatever you have setup as your MX record.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Generally the company you used to register your domain name also offers DNS services and you can either log into a web console that they provide and create an A-record for our domain called "servername" or you can call them up and have them do it for you.

Chances are that mail is currently delivered to them and you retrieve with with a mail client using POP3 or something, but if you go through the work to have mail delivered right to your server, you'll also need to have this same A-record created, and you will then also have to edit an MX-record in DNS to point to that A-record. That's what Mark means when he says that you can use the same record.

So if you create a record called "mail" in the "boyscoutcabal.org" domain that points to your server's static IP, you can also point your MX record to "mail.boyscoutcabal.org". Then you can configure the wizard in SBS to use "mail.boyscoutcabal.org" as your mail outside name to use to connect for OWA and VPN.
