Hi all,

We are running Mailsweeper to filter all Exe’s, Pics, offensive text etc on our external mail (separate box to the exchange servers, firewall passes directly onto mailsweeper then to Exchange IMC, normal setup). We have setup OWA and have been using for the IT staff only for quite some time however we wish to open the access up to the users but this method of access will bypass mailsweeper and therefore skip one level of virus protect and compromise our email policy. We do have virus scanning on the exchange server as well, can’t afford the down time.

The complication occurs because our internal email policy is different ie users need to send exe, pics etc, but using OWA they will be able to pick up anything from the browsing machine and dump directly into their mailbox defeating the external email policy for executables etc coming into the company.

Content filtering on the exchange servers is not viable due to the two differing policies.

Does anyone have an idea of a way round this ?

Hope this made some sense,

Tim
